Learning Leads to Action
Jewish tradition greatly values the link between study and action. Although these elements can sometimes seem to be in tension with each other, learning about global and local justice topics is essential to communicating about these issues to others, getting effectively involved with campaigns, and doing thoughtful and effective service work. Through learning and thinking critically about contemporary issues, our values, and Judaism’s connection to justice, we are in turn more responsible and grounded as agents for change in the world.
On1Foot.org is a great resource for creating your own class or text study on Jewish social justice issues. It serves as a searchable online database of texts and divrei torah on everything from gender and sexual identity to labor rights.
