Join Pursue, Uri L’Tzedek, and Congregation Beth Elohim / Brooklyn Jews for the second annual Food Justice Seder!

As Passover draws near and we begin thinking about age-old themes of slavery and liberation, we’ll gather to connect the dots between contemporary food justice issues and the retelling of our Exodus story.

Date: Sunday, April 1st

Time: 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the program will begin at 6:00 p.m. sharp.

Location: Congregation Beth Elohim @ 274 Garfield Place, Brooklyn NY (map)

Cost: Sliding scale, $12 – $20. Nobody will be turned away for lack of funds. Please contribute what you can.

To RSVP: Register below. Pre-registration is highly encouraged and most appreciated.

To BRING: Chametz! Whether or not you were planning on cleaning your home before Passover, instead of discarding your chametz / leaven (what’s that?), please bring it with you to the Seder for our collection. You can also bring any other non-perishables that your heart desires (anything unopened and sealed). We will be donating the collected goods to a local emergency food provider (precise organization TBD). So if you have unopened fancy pasta or bags of legumes or boxes of crackers – whether you would have thrown them out or not – bring them with you to the Seder and help us provide a meaningful contribution to an organization doing good work in the fight against hunger.

The event will feature:

  • Opportunities to connect with inspiring & current food justice campaigns
  • Space for conversation connecting the Seder themes to food justice
  • Re-imagined rituals to highlight food justice issues
  • Delicious, Tav HaYosher certified food
  • Awesome people (such as you!)

Check out photos and a recap from last year’s inaugural event! This year we’ll be offering new insights and teachings while maintaining the spirit and intention from last year’s successful program. If you came last year, we’d love to host you again. If you missed it, and wished you hadn’t, now’s your chance to join the conversation!

This event is brought to you by Pursue, Uri L’Tzedek, and Congregation Beth Elohim / Brooklyn Jews and is co-sponsored by our friends at Hazon.
