Get the low-down

The D.C. community is as busy and politically conscious as the national capital it inhabits. Despite taxation without representation, D.C. citizens make their voices heard loud and clear through their local Jewish, justice and service spheres.

Hi Pursue! How can Moishe House be listed as a “local friend” on this blog? We have upcoming events that we want DC Pursuers to know about! Can you help us out?
Thanks!

Volunteer Action & Community Service Bat Mitzvah

It’s actually a meeting but that doesn’t sound as fun. Bring your ideas and contacts for local non-profits, causes and events to this massive brain dump event. Moishe House DC is making a focused effort to connect our community to more regular service opportunities. This evening we will take the first step and find out what types of opportunities you guys want to connect to! There will be markers and butcher paper, snacks and a spirit of tikkun olam.

DREAM Act Shabbat

The DREAM Act is bipartisan legislation, pioneered by Sens. Orin Hatch and Richard Durbin that would allow qualified, undocumented youth to be eligible for a 6 year long conditional path to American citizenship. Join Moishe House DC for a classic Shabbat dinner with a twist of advocacy. We’ll have delicious food, guest speakers, and learn more about why so many American Jewish organizations have backed this bill and continue to press for its passage. Be sur to bring a bottle of wine and a handful of business cards!
